Hi, we are John and Cindy La Barge and we would like to introduce you to our family: our daughter Whitney and her husband Chris, who resides in L.A. and our pup Ansel, when not spending time at doggie daycare, is in currently in training to be our door greeter at our studio (It's still a work in progress). Anyways, we met when we both worked at Kansas State University in 1994. John was at Photographic Services and Cindy was working at the Department of Agronomy. A few years later, we married in 1997 and at this point we had be photographing a few sporting events on the weekends as well as an occasional portrait or commercial job here and there. As our side hustle began to grow, John made the bold move to in September 2001 leave the university and launch our business full time. In 2010, Cindy joined him. Not going to lie, It was a little scary leaving guaranteed health care and a dedicated paycheck, but it proved to be the right move. Fast forward a few years we kicked off 2014 with taking on an complete renovation of our building that we purchase in 2006, also known as the Asken building in Historic Downtown Manhattan, Kansas. Again, seemed super scary at the time but proved to be the right move as we brought a rather ugly building back to life. So that's us! We are members of the Professional Photographers of America, both Life Members and Past-Presidents of the Kansas Professional Photographers Association, and members of the American Society of Photographers.
